How to Smudge with White Sage...
Smudging with White Sage is one of the oldest and most effective forms used to purify & cleanse to release negative, heavy energy attachments in your home, self, office, objects or anywhere that needs to be cleansed,…smoke will be directed to areas in need of clearing and protecting… As the smoke moves through the room or over a surface, the smoke attaches itself to any heavy, negative energy that is within the space, object or person… As the smoke clears, the White Sage carries with it the negative energy that was once attached, back up to the Light… White sage can be used in any number of situations including to cleanse yourself, others, Crystals, objects, a room, home, building, office space
Smudge as often as required and especially when the energy starts to feel heavy or draining…Use when energy feels negative, when experiencing sleep disturbances, or have an overall feeling that the area, person, object may have negative energy attachments
The most effective way is to smudge during the day…keep the windows and doors open to the room you have chosen to smudge & do the following:
*Light the sage at the very tips of the leaves on top of the wand. Once the flames come to life, blow them out quickly. Do not let the flame burn... Once it is lit, blown the flame out & it will smoke...if you prefer, you can use loose leaf White Sage, which can be lit in the same way, but placed and lit in a ceramic bowl/fire proof bowl/abalone shell etc
*Having a ceramic bowl is useful to place the smudge stick in when walking through areas and to also catch any embers that may fall from the leaves
*If you need assistance wafting the smoke, a feather is the perfect tool for this
*Start in one corner of the room and gently waft the smoke from the floor up to the ceiling….Always start from the bottom and move to the top - this is the natural pattern of smoke
*Using the smoke of the white sage to cleanse and protect, it's important, to set the Intention of cleansing & clearing... communicate to unwanted Spirit Energy that you are releasing their attachments as they are not welcome in the space/person etc and ask them to leave...As the smoke is drifting up and clearing, you can ask that anything that no longer serves you to be released and that any bad intentions cast your way or to the property to be banished …ask all negative energy to leave and go to the light...
*You may feel goosebumps or heightened energy whilst doing this – this is normal as you will start to feel the release of heavy attachments/energy to the room, self, house
*Move to the next corner, and waft smoke from the bottom to the top of the corner, and once you complete the final corner, move to the centre of the room, raise the smudge to chest height, and waft smoke up towards the room centre…make sure you allow the smoke to waft around the four corners of windows in the Room…you are now done with this Room…please keep the windows and doors open to release the energies that have attached to the smoke to flow out…the energy of the room will feel lighter, clearer, airier.
*Continue to do each room as above
*Start from the back of the house and move to the front…for 2 storey or multi storey buildings, start from the top floor and move to the bottom…make sure to do all rooms and if you have a room with cupboards/cabinets, open & allow the smoke to waft into them…ensure you also do your garage especially if attached to your home…Your last room should be the one with the front door.
*Upon completing the house, office, etc, allow the smoke to work for at least 15 minutes…tbefore closing the doors/windows.
*Allow the smudge to cease burning naturally as it will naturally go out when it has finished clearing the energy...you can also place smudge stick in a ceramic bowl to extinguish or place out in the natural elements such as the garden, sand etc whilst it is ceasing to burn/to exxtinguish...do not place in water to extimguish
*Your smudge stick can be kept sealed and kept in a cool, dry place to be used as required until finished
* keep out of reach of children
*never leave lit flame or smude stick unattended
